California Resolves

The California Department of Child Support Services, in partnership with the California Administrative Office of the Courts, has been awarded a federal grant to test the effectiveness of dispute resolution processes in child support cases. The project offers parents the opportunity to participate in a collaborative negotiation conference with the goal of reaching a stipulated agreement establishing or modifying a child support order. The project will test whether establishing and modifying child support orders through alternative dispute resolution increases the speed and efficiency of the program as well as parent satisfaction with outcomes, as compared to establishing and modifying orders through traditional courtroom processes.
